My three favorite ways to use my brain are going out in the field to observe animal behavior, reaching out to people about science, and using the logic of computers to sort out signal from noise in the complex data-stream of the world.

My Master's thesis at Tufts was about social behavior in paper wasps and its role in the invasion of the European paper wasp in North America. My undergraduate honors thesis at Columbia was about the social and sexual role of song in the cooperatively breeding superb starling.

I love helping other scientists with data analysis. My guide to mixed models in R may be of help. Find me on my contact page if you have any questions.
